Sacred Doesn't Always Look Like Stillness

There was a time I believed sacredness required silence. That I had to be on a mountain or in a candlelit room to be spiritual. But over the years, life showed me that the Divine doesn’t always speak in whispers.

Sometimes, the sacred sounds like dishes clanking in the sink while your favorite song plays in the background. It looks like crying in the car and still making it to work. It looks like holding your tongue when you could lash out. Sacredness, for me, now lives in the ordinary.

This journey has taught me that I don’t have to escape my life to feel spiritual. I just have to bring intention into it. Intention is what makes a moment holy.

So today, I invite you to look around your life, not with judgment, but with soft eyes. Ask yourself:
Where is the sacred already trying to meet me?

Because sometimes, healing doesn’t look like stillness. Sometimes it looks like surviving one more day with grace.

Just like we’ve been taught that sacredness requires silence, many of us believe meditation must look like stillness, sitting cross-legged, eyes closed, completely calm. But meditation, like spirit, has many forms.

There are meditations that move like walking meditations or dance prayers.
There are meditations that speak through affirmations or guided visualization.
And there are meditations that create when you're painting, writing, or even cooking with full attention.

Meditation isn’t about escaping your reality.
It’s about returning to your center within it.

Whether you're breathing deeply while folding laundry, reciting an affirmation during a lunch break, or simply becoming aware of your thoughts in the shower that is a form of meditation.

There is no one way to be present with yourself.
The sacred meets you where you are.
